Welcome to RBC, Anna!
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Anna Buettner and I came on staff at Riviera last month as the new youth intern. I wanted to take this opportunity to share my heart in this position.
I am a student here in the Eugene area at New Hope Christian College, where I have felt a strong call from the Lord to study Christian Counseling. I was born in Eugene and lived here until I was eight years old, when my family moved to the Hillsboro/Portland area. God put New Hope in my heart from very early on in high school. I went into my senior year already accepted with honors and a signed national letter of intent to play volleyball. This blessing really freed my time to be able to focus on what God’s call on my life for that year was going to be.
The summer before my senior year, a close friend and I felt a call to start a small girls group and, with the support of the church, it grew rather quickly. God taught me many lessons through this group that helped me grow as a woman of God and as a leader in ministry. I faced many challenging setbacks that God used in crazy ways, each one came with a lesson that God used to help me grow closer to Him. To this day, I have remained close to the girls in that group. It has been such a wonderful journey seeing these girls grow closer to the Lord and see His guidance in their life.
This group, I believe, was the beginning of a passion that God set in my heart to see young girls flourish in their relationship with the Lord. I was blessed to grow up with several wise women willing to set aside their time to plant seeds in my life that have helped me become the person I am today. Every time I look back on my high school and junior high years, I am so grateful for each of those women and the openness they shared with me that encouraged me to want to pursue the Lord like they do daily.
Although my journey with the Lord has been far from easy or perfect, I am open to the lessons He is teaching me daily. It is hard to look back on my life and not see the abundant blessings He has poured into me financially, spiritually, and emotionally. My heart’s desire is to use my time at Riviera to plant seeds into the lives of these young girls like the women before me planted in my own life. Each one of these girls is precious in God’s eyes, and He wants them to seek Him personally and intimately. I believe that God intends to use me to help them see their value through His eyes and seek that relationship with their God.
I pray daily that God uses me to shine His light and love here at Riviera and in the lives of these girls. I also ask for your continued prayers for myself and the youth at Riviera, that God would use me to plant seeds in their life - seeds that grow into a desire to know Him personally and pursue the plans He has for them.
