In partnership with Riviera KIDS, Crossroads Youth, and the Women’s and Men’s Ministries of Riviera Baptist church, we bring you: 5th Wednesday!
5th Wednesday is a family-focused program that takes place from 5:30 to 7:30pm every month that has a 5th Wednesday on its calendar. In the remainder of 2016, we will have a 5th Wednesday in August (the 31st) and November (the 30th). The 2017 season of 5th Wednesdays will start in March (the 29th).
In order to have as many participants as possible, we ask that all other regularly scheduled Wednesday programs take those evenings off and join us! The program features a family meal starting at 5:30, followed by games or other interactive family activities.
The goal for the church family, as a group of smaller families, is to come together for fellowship, food and fun. It’s also a chance to reach out to families in the community. We want to invite them to these low key yet engaging events that will introduce them to the Riviera Family and hopefully lead to deeper connections with our greater church ministries.
Each 5th Wednesday program has a special theme. For August 31st (that’s today), it’s East Asian Night. It will feature catered Thai food, fellowship, a slide show and testimonies with myself and other members of my team from my time serving in East Asia. This has a dual purpose: to connect our families, and to thank their gracious donors to the Goetzinger family who helped make my East Asian mission trip a possibility!
For November’s 5th Wednesday program, we will be having a DIY Christmas ornament and gift-making party. It will feature a potluck dinner and crafting stations for all ages. (There will also be the option for parents to sign a waiver and leave their children at the church for the evening, so that they may go Christmas shopping or do other things for the evening.) We will be allowing the children to stay until 8:30pm that evening.
If you have any wonderful ideas for gifts and crafts that you would be willing to share and teach, please let me know and we’ll get you a station. Or, if you are willing to help watch the kids while their parents are out, again, contact me and we’ll get you connected. Remember, it’s a potluck feast, so bring a dish that you can share! There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board starting the first Sunday in November.
Thank you for working with us as we get the 5th Wednesday program up and running! We know it’s new and unlike anything we’ve done in the past. We hope and pray that is will not only be a blessing to individuals, but also to families and the greater Santa Clara community.
