Making Friends and Becoming Family

Riviera Baptist Church began in 1963

The first facility was built in 1964 on
nearly 4 1/2 acres  of land.
The new building included a worship
center that is still used today.

In 1975 a large Education wing was completed
which included a kitchen, fellowship hall, rest-
rooms and 7 large class rooms.

The need to put a pitched roof on the Education
building presented an opportunity to build a
second story. At first the plan was to shell in
the second level until funds allowed completion.
Once the work began the funds didn't stop
until we were able to accupy in 1987.

In 2002 we were able to repaint the entire outside
of the church. It was a real blessing since the old
colors caused many to call our church the "oreo
cookie" colored church.

In September 2007 we were approved for a loan to refurbish our facility. What a blessing to upgrade
with the following: entirely new windows and outside doors, remodeled bathrooms, new carpet, blinds,
paint throughout, pavement overlay of all driveways and parking areas with stripping. We were able to
open up our property connecting with River Loop 1 and create a way for members to enter and exit
the property through a traffic light.

On November 20, 2011 at our church-wide Thanksgiving Dinner we were able to burn the note for the
refurbish loan. Thank you Lord, we are out of debt.
